The 4 Breweries in St. Pete Beach, Florida area
Welcome to St Pete Beach, Florida, where the beer is cold and the sun is hot. Whether you’re a beer aficionado or if you’re just pretending to know the difference between an ale and a lager, we’ve got you covered on the best breweries in St Pete Beach, FL.
Before we get too much further and buzzed on suds, let’s clarify things so no one gets mad at us. We are just talking about breweries IN St Pete Beach, meaning the far western portion of the greater Tampa Bay area just before you wade into the Gulf of Mexico. We are not including any of the breweries in downtown St. Petersburg in this post (separate guide coming soon).
Home to some gorgeous beaches, tourist hot spots, and questionable tan lines, this small slice of land along Florida’s western coast has just 3 breweries and a couple of taphouses. For good measure and because it’s located just across the bay from St Pete Beach, we’ll also include 1 brewery in nearby Gulfport.
My parents live in St. Pete Beach so we visit a few times a year and just spent a week drinking there in February 2024.
Short on time? Here are the key takeaways:
- All of the breweries have food (yay!)
- In our opinion, don’t miss Mastry’s Brewing in the heart of St Pete Beach
- Mad Pub Taphouse has over 100 craft beers if you have limited time to hop around

If you feel like you recognize the name of this first entry on our list of breweries in St Pete Beach, you haven’t had too much to drink yet as this brewery actually originated in 1993 in Maine and is a Maine-stay in that part of the country.
Sea Dog Brewing, well-known for the adorable dog adorning its labels, is also well-known for brewing up traditional-style beers using top-notch ingredients: imported English two-row malted barley for its ales and imported German hops and grains for its lagers. Because only the best will do for this pup.
The beers available at their St Pete Beach location (technically on Treasure Island) match the vibe in sunny Florida – well-balanced, fruity, and crisp. OK, maybe those don’t describe Florida at all, but you get the idea.
They have a wide variety of beers on tap, as well as a full bar, but one of their most popular and widely available beers is the “Blue Paw” blueberry wheat ale. In the Florida heat, it’s a thirst quencher for sure and combines that familiar wheat ale flavor with a punch of blueberries from Maine. We personally love this for sipping on a hot day.
The St Pete Beach location is pretty large and consists of two stories: the indoor upstairs taproom is where we sat when we visited (it does feel a bit “corporate” inside) and gives you views of the water, but downstairs is more open-air and gives you those real Florida vibes…and humidity (but doesn’t give you water views).
And unlike the other breweries on this list, Sea Dog is open every day for breakfast/brunch so you can come grab some food and a beer to quell that hangover or put down a good base layer before a day of fun in the sun.
Mastry’s Brewing Co.
- Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 12PM – 10PM
- Friday & Saturday: 12PM – 11PM
- Sunday: 12PM – 9PM
- Food Available: Yes
- Dog Friendly: Yes, on the patio
When Mastry’s Brewing Co. first began, they were so small that they actually operated as a brewpub out of a family-owned restaurant. But as their beer became more popular, the folks behind Mastry’s had to give the people what they wanted, and in 2016, opened up their own brick-and-mortar brewery – which became the first to arrive of the breweries in St Pete FL.
We really loved visiting Mastry’s during our time in St Pete Beach, so much so that we visited on multiple occasions. From the 8 core beers available that checked almost every box of variety to the numerous rotating/seasonal beers, they’ve got the beer thing down here (wine is also available if you’re feeling that).
The “Spinning Wheel” Kölsch is an incredibly crushable beer perfect for Florida or anywhere for that matter, while the “MADE Coffee Porter” has those dark chocolatey flavors you know and love in a porter along with freshly roasted local coffee beans.
But it’s not just the beer that makes this place great. The people are nice, they’ve got a kick-ass patio and an outdoor area complete with a food truck AND there’s a Nintendo 64. 80s and 90s kids unite!
Mad Beach Craft Brewing Company

- Saturday: 11AM – 11PM
- Sunday: 11AM – 9PM

Located on the upper floor amongst the hustle and bustle of the popular John’s Pass area, Mad Beach Craft Brewing Company caters to the beach crowd with many lighter and session-able beers that are great for a long day of debauchery.
Beers like the “Banana Hammock” hefeweizen or the aptly named “Beach Beer” Mexican Lager are light enough for you to knock back several as you pass the time. Ciders, seltzers, sangrias, wines, and frozen drinks are also available if you aren’t feeling the hoppy stuff.
But don’t let those lighter beers fool you – Mad Beach also has several higher-gravity beers like the 11% Maple Stout, the 9% “I Yam What I Yam” beer (think Thanksgiving), and the 7.4% “Back in Black” black ale which took home a silver medal at the 2024 Best Florida Beer Competition.
When we visited their large taproom, we had the “Passion of the Ale” sour and the “Madeira Vice” hazy IPA. Both really solid beers that we’d definitely get again, but honestly may not seek them out if we aren’t in the area.
Gulfport Brewery
- Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 12PM – 9PM
- Friday & Saturday: 12PM – 11PM
- Food Available: Yes
- Happy Hour: Monday – Friday: 3PM – 6PM – $5-$6 Gulfport brews and $5 off flatbreads
- Dog Friendly: Yes
While not technically in St Pete Beach, we included Gulfport Brewery on this list of breweries in St Pete Beach because, as the crow flies, it’s only about 2.5 miles from Mastry’s. And that’s close enough in our books.
The brewery in this small and quaint little city of 12,000 people began back in 2020 and is focused on providing great beer and great food to the people of Gulfport. Simple and noble mission.
Like many of the other breweries in the area, they do offer many lighter beers like their Gulfport Gold ale and their Disston City Lager, but they also have a little bit of everything else too: IPAs (hazys and West Coasts), brown ales, porters, lagers, sours, etc. You won’t be going thirsty, don’t worry.
And you also won’t be going hungry either as they have a scratch kitchen cooking up everything from eggrolls and pretzels to burritos, sandwiches, and flatbreads. Oh my!
BONUS: Mad Pub
- Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 10AM – 12AM
- Friday & Saturday: 10AM – 1AM

Nestled in the heart of John’s Pass, Mad Pub offers an unparalleled experience for beer enthusiasts. With a whopping 63 taps of cold, refreshing beer, come thirsty. (Yes, you read that right – 63 taps!) In the event you can’t find a beer to your liking on tap, they have an additional 40+ in bottles/cans.
This is one of the larger craft beer menus in the St. Pete Beach area and you can sip a local, regional, or national brew to quench your thirst in the hot Florida sun. If you get performance anxiety, they keep their menu up-to-date online so you can study it before you arrive. Looking at you, “menu-peepers.”
When we visited John’s Pass in February 2024, we were able to grab to-go beers from Mad Pub which you can take as you walk around and shop along the busy strip.
BONUS: The North End Taphouse

- Monday: 5PM – 10PM
- Tuesday – Thursday: 5PM – 11PM
- Friday: 5PM – 12AM

This small, but mighty taphouse in Gulfport is the perfect stop-in for an easy bite and some brews. Tucked away from the main street, The North End Taphouse is a quaint bar with a massive patio with live music all weekend. With 20 taps, they do their best to support local Florida beers as well as regionals to provide a vast variety of styles to choose from.
They also offer wines, seltzers, ciders and non-alcoholic beers / spirits. Be sure to check out their events calendar on their website as they also host trivia, open mic and much more.
