The 4 Best Wineries in Jerome, Arizona
With a population of less than 500 people, the town of Jerome, Arizona may be small, but its wine scene is mighty. Perched high in the Verde Valley Wine Region, Jerome is home to four incredible wineries – each with its own charm, story, and stunning mountain views.
We actually stumbled upon the Jerome wineries by accident while road-tripping through northern Arizona. But after one glass (or maybe two), we immediately extended our trip to dive deeper into this surprising pocket of wine country.
Thank goodness we did – because that spontaneous detour inspired us to explore Arizona’s other top wine regions, including Willcox and Sonoita, later on.
If you’re planning a day trip from Sedona or spending a weekend in the Verde Valley, Jerome’s walkable tasting rooms, artistic vibe, and jaw-dropping hillside views make it one of the most unique wine destinations in the Southwest.
Short on time? Here are the key takeaways:
- There are 4 wineries in Jerome, all within easy walking distance on Main Street.
- Caduceus Cellars (owned by Maynard from Tool) is a must for red wine lovers.
- Passion Cellars and Cabal Cellars pour some of the best blends in Arizona.

Jerome Wineries
Before we get into all of the yumminess of Cottonwood wineries, let’s first talk about the several wineries and tasting rooms in the small and unique town of Jerome.
Jerome is an old mining town which is about 20 minutes from the Cottonwood wineries and roughly 40 minutes from Sedona.
While you are here, be sure to eat at the Haunted Hamburger for a spooky encouter with some spirits.
1. Caduceus Cellars

- Hours:
- Sunday-Thursday: 11 AM – 6 PM
- Friday & Saturday: 11 AM – 7 PM
- Reservation Required: No
- Food Available: Yes, small bites and plates
When it comes to the Jerome wineries, none are more famous (or rock ‘n’ roll) than Caduceus Cellars.
Founded by Maynard James Keenan – yes, the lead singer of Tool – this winery bridges music, art, and old-world winemaking. Keenan’s winemaking roots trace back to his Italian grandparents, and his influence has been instrumental in reviving northern Arizona’s wine scene into what it is today.
While many Arizona wineries grow their grapes in the southern Willcox AVA, Caduceus sources its fruit closer to home, from the Cornville area near Keenan’s residence.
The Caduceus Cellars tasting room in Jerome is open year-round and features a cozy cellar and a small market filled with local artisan products. You can sample a flight of four red wines or mix it up with two whites and two rosés for around $15.
Full pours are available next door at Four Eight Wineworks, and if you’re curious about Keenan’s other project, Merkin Vineyards, you’ll find those wines here too – or at their other tasting rooms in Cottonwood and Scottsdale.
Whether you’re a Tool fan or just love great Arizona wine, this stop perfectly represents the creative, edgy energy that makes the Jerome wineries so unique.
2. The Original Jerome Winery

- Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 12 PM – 6 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 12 PM – 7 PM
- Reservation Required: No
- Food Available: No
As its name suggests, The Original Jerome Winery proudly claims the title of being the OG among Jerome wineries – and for good reason.
Founded in 2001 by owner John McLoughlin, this winery helped kickstart Arizona’s modern wine movement. What began with a single vineyard has grown into more than 150 acres of vines across the state, proving that Arizona truly can produce exceptional wines.
The climate here lends itself to smooth, dry styles that are perfect for red wine lovers, but there are also plenty of fruit-forward options for those who prefer something on the sweeter side.
What makes this spot stand out is its unique tasting experience – you can sample Arizona’s only flight of vintage ports or the only Heritage Zinfandel flight in the state. For something even more adventurous, try their small-batch mead made from fermented honey. It’s rich, slightly floral, and not overly sweet – just the right balance.
With panoramic views of the Verde Valley and a laid-back tasting room, this stop captures the creative, small-town charm that defines the Jerome wineries experience.
3. Passion Cellars

- Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11 AM – 6 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11 AM – 7 PM
- Reservation Required: No
- Food Available: No
Part of the Salvatore Vineyards family (which also includes Cabal Cellars – see below), Passion Cellars is the charming “middle child” — and it deserves just as much attention.
Located right on Main Street in Jerome, this tasting room offers stunning views of the historic hillside town and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere to sip through their lineup of handcrafted Arizona wines.
We first tasted Passion Cellars wines at their Scottsdale location and loved them so much we came back for seconds in Jerome. Flights typically include one white and four reds for around $15, and every pour delivers. The Pinot Grigio is made in an orange wine style — left on the skins for 48 hours — and pairs beautifully with seafood.
Red wine lovers will appreciate their Tempranillo, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, which lean into a balanced, old-world style. Many of these wines have taken home medals from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, cementing Passion Cellars’ place among the best Jerome wineries.
4. Cabal Cellars

- Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11 AM – 6 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11 AM – 7 PM
- Reservation Required: No
- Food Available: No
The name Cabal Cellars refers to a close-knit group working toward a shared goal – a fitting description for this collaborative venture between the winemaking teams at Passion Cellars and Salvatore Vineyards.
At Cabal Cellars, the team takes a hands-on approach to every aspect of winemaking. From selecting grape varietals and experimenting with blends to designing the labels, the staff plays an active role in the creative process. It’s a true team effort – and you can taste that passion in every pour.
In a fun nod to the winery’s name, each bottle features artwork inspired by a famous conspiracy or historical mystery. You might spot references to Benedict Arnold’s betrayal, Pete Best and The Beatles, or even the 1919 Chicago Black Sox Scandal – a little history lesson to go with your wine.
The tasting room in Jerome offers a relaxed and welcoming vibe, perfect for enjoying a flight while soaking in the local charm that defines Jerome wineries. If you can’t make it to this location, you’ll find many of the same winemakers’ creations at Passion Cellars and Salvatore Vineyards tasting rooms throughout Arizona.
BONUS: Vino Zona
- Hours:
- Sunday and Thursday: 12 PM – 6 PM
- Friday and Saturday: 12 PM – 7 PM
- Reservations Required: No
- Food Available: No
If you love discovering boutique Arizona wines, Vino Zona is a must-visit addition to the Jerome wineries scene. This cozy and intimate tasting room highlights small-batch, family-owned Arizona producers, carefully handpicked for their quality and craftsmanship.
In addition to pouring fantastic local wines, Vino Zona also supports Arizona artists and makers, blending the state’s creative and culinary spirits under one roof.
Their Jerome location opened in 2024, joining their established tasting rooms in Sedona and Cottonwood. While we haven’t sipped here yet, we loved our wine flight experience at their Sedona location – and if it’s anything like that, expect a warm welcome, curated pours, and stunning views to match.
